15,552,000 seconds: a long time?

What is six months? Is it a long time or a short time? It’s roughly 180 days; but some days can feel like forever. Some days can feel like a lifetime. I’ve spent a considerable amount of—yes, I know—time thinking about how the thing itself has changed while I am here in Tanzania. Because it’s not simply time passing; it’s time measured, measurable. It can be measured by the days, by the rains, by my degree of assimilation. I keep a tally in my notebook. The small, neon green daily planner that my mom insisted I get while we were buying itch cream in CVS last July. Back then, in the great before time, a daily planner seemed inconsistent with the life I would be living…
