The Choice

The day finally arrived for our group of women to meet in order to choose their work. We spent a lot of time trying to plan for the meeting. Our meetings always require some amount of preparation. I usually go a little wild and get really nervous about being prepared enough. It brings me back to when I was in school and could not participate in class if I hadn’t closely gone through the reading and given myself time to think about it. Some of my frustration about these meetings is that, like being here in general, I don’t have the capacity to really speak my mind and say what I want to say. The act of translating is rigid and uncompromising in some respects and I don’t yet have the ease and ability with the language to use different expressions or try different words…
